Start of Expedition: STORIES FROM THE SILK ROAD

Estimated Start date:  28 September 2023

Start Location: Istanbul

Entering China at the western border with Kyrgyzstan and walking east via one of the 
northern routes of the old Silk Road - this will take me to Xi'an, the "official" eastern 
end of the Silk Road.

Provisional Route Details: CHINA

• Total Country Distance:  4,223 km - 2,639 miles 
• Estimated Total Duration:  217 days
• Including anticipated rest days, visiting sites and talking to/interviewing people for the project.

Main Locations along the Route 

• Irkeshtam Pass (border) - Kashgar - Aksu - Kuqa - Karasahr - Turpan - Hami - Dunhuang - Yumen - Jiayuquan - Zhangye - Lanzhou - Xi'an

    Expedition Final Location: Xi'an
