Turkey - Georgia - Armenia - Georgia - Azerbaijan
Provisional routes through Georgia with the TransCaucasian Trail incorporated
in the northwest in the Svaneti Region.

Provisional Route Details: GEORGIA

There are two routes in Georgia*:
  1. Enter from Turkey and exit to Armenia
  2. Enter from Armenia and exit to Azerbaijan
*There's a possibility that I will incorporate part or all of the TransCaucasian Trail into the routes in  Georgia.
  • Total Country Distance:  1,002 km - 626 miles
    • Route 1 (Turkish border to Armenian border): 723 km - 452 miles
    • Route 2 (Armenian border to Azerbaijan border): 279 km - 174 miles
  • Estimated Total Duration:  51 days
    • Including anticipated rest days, visiting sites and talking to/interviewing people for the project.
    • Route 1 (Turkish border to Armenian border): 37 days
    • Route 2 (Armenian border to Azerbaijan border): 14 days

Route 1
  • Sarpi (border) - Batumi - Poti - Ushgul - Colchic Forest - Kutaisi - Khushuri - Akhalkalaki 
    Border: Ninotsminda - crossing into Armenia at Bavra border post

Route 2
  • Shikhli/Sixli (border) - Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Tbilisi - Telavi
    Border: Lagodekhi - crossing into Azerbaijan at Balakan border post
